What is Assisted End of Life?
Assisted End of Life is a compassionate approach that provides support and care to individuals who are terminally ill, suffer under unbearable disability or uncontrollable pain and wish to end their lives.

Who is eligible for assited termination of life?
Individuals who are of sound of judgment, capable of making decisions, and legally competent
Individuals who have a persiten desire for assisted termination of life
Individuals who are not acting on impulse and who are acting independtly, without influence from others
Who is excluded?
Individuals with mental illness
Individuals suffering from Alzheimer´s and long-term depression
Individuals suffering from severe dementia
Explanation: We distinguish between severe and long-term depression as a mental illness and situational depression, which can be caused by, for example, an unfavorable diagnosis.
Where it is beeing performed?
In the current legal framework, assisted termination of life can be conducted in Germany. Assisted termination of life is available to German citizens as well as individuals of other nationalities who do not reside in Germany.
Requirements for assisted termination of life
Legal age (completed 18th year of life)
Uncontrollable pain
Unbearable disability
Incurable illness (even if it does not lead directly to death)
Documents that must be submitted
Application (requesting assisted termination of life, justification, and current health situation
Current hospital reports, doctors´ reports, hospital discharge, and/or diagnosis reports
Curriculum vitae (where and when born, parents, siblings, education, training, occupation, own family, medical history)

Procedure
If assited termination of life is to be carried out, it is mandatory to travel to Germany. The arrival location will be communicated via email. It will be necessary to stay in Germany for three to five days until assisted termination of life can be carried out. Before arrival, all invoices will be sent by email- Only when all costs have been settled, will a date be proposed. We only invoice costs related to processing and assisted termination of life. Travel expenses, accommodation costs, funeral costs, and repatriation costs are not included. Immediatly upon arrival, a meeting with the performing doctor will be held. A meeting with the funeral director must then take place to sign contracts regaring the procedure (room rental, funeral director´s activity), repatriation, and immediatly settle the financial commitment. The final appointment takes place a few days later. The affected person will be given time to make their decision final.
The judicial authorities in Germany attach great importance to this.
Procedure for the final appointment
A form must be signed stating that the performing doctor is prohibited from taking any rescue measures that he would otherwise be obligated to take.
Then, a venous access is established, and an infusion with NaCl is administered. This includes checking whether the vein is undamaged and whether the access is correct. Another infusion is added, containing the medication in a lethal amount. Then, the affected person is requiered to open the infusion independently. The person falls asleep in a few seconds and, without waking up, passes away in a very short time. The criminal police are then informed, as it is a non- natural death. This is requiered by German legislation. After the post-mortem examination, conducted by the police, the body is taken over by the funeral director and stored there until the public prosecutor declares the release. Only then can repatriation or burial take place.
Explanation: Individuals who cannot open an infusion independently are not excluded from assisted termination of life. In such case, alternative procedures are carried out.
The precence of family or friends is welcome during assisted termination of life. The attending companions must have a valid identification card or passport with them.
Place where it can be conducted
As communicated above, we take care of the arrival location in a prepared funeral home. It is also possible to use other facilities in case you have family or friends in Germany.
